Our bodies can lose a lot of water during a workout through breathing and sweating. Most people know that water is key to a good workout, but how much should you actually be drinking?
It’s important for you body to be hydrated even before you begin your workout. It’s recommended you drink about 1 cup of water 1 – 2 hours prior to when you plan to start your workout. Drink another cup about 15 minutes before you start, and make sure you’re drinking another cup every 15 minutes during your workout. These amounts are approximates and can vary depending on the intensity level of your workout. For example, you would probably need to re-hydrate more often if you are running outside on a hot summer day than if you were doing yoga in an indoor gym.
Drinking enough water during your workout will help ensure that you get the most out of your workout and will also prevent you from getting dehydrated. You’ll be pleasantly surprised when you’re able to work out longer and more effectively than before!
